The Realtor® Code of Ethics and Professional Standards
The REALTOR® Code of Ethics- A Gift of Vision
First enacted in 1913, the REALTOR® Code of Ethics was truly revolutionary for its time. The history of real estate for the preceding 150 years was a history or rampant land speculation, exploitation and disorder.
The REALTORS® were the first business group outside the "learned profession of medicine, engineering and law" to adopt a formal Code of Ethics.
Today, the REALTOR® Code of Ethics continues to
be a viable, living, developing guide for REALTORS®, providing the protection
the public deserves and requires. The National Association of Realtors and the
respective state associates and member boards of REALTORS® are committed and
pledged to such protection.
